GEMt offers dry needling courses in Australia and New Zealand, designed to deliver accredited, graduate courses in trigger point dry needling (TDN) for all forms of manual therapy. An effective treatment for myofascial pain, trigger point dry needling (TDN) uses the stimulation of trigger points with fine filament needles to reduce muscular pain and dysfunction. Onsite hosting ensures that your entire clinic staff is up to date with dry needling techniques, and has uniform skill at applying those techniques. Learning Outcomes: GEMt’s dry needling course has been approved and accredited by the Australian and New Zealand Physiotherapy Association, so physiotherapists completing the course will be immediately recognised as certified practitioners. At the completion of the course, you can elect to have your practice added to the directory of practitioners maintained by GEMt. NB: There is a strong emphasis on anatomy in these dry needling courses. Participants will be provided with muscle charts and reading material (including a 120-page colour manual) prior to the start of the course. At the completion of these courses, participants should be able to: Identify and define trigger points and presentations of neuromuscular dysfunction. Safely apply dry needling techniques for orthopaedic and musculoskeletal disorders. Define indications and contraindications for treatment. Identify specific dry needling treatment rationales for various diagnoses. Understand the research supporting the use of dry needling in clinical practice. Apply dry needling techniques to common sporting injuries. Have a greater understanding of how to accurately evaluate and treat common myofascial disorders of the cervical and lumbar spine, as well as upper and lower extremities, including posterior hip/gluteal region. The advanced course will provide participants with the knowledge to apply dry needling to areas such as: TMJ, hands, feet, thoracic spine and trunk and others. More advanced techniques will also be taught and incorporated, including full use of the needle plunger.
