22271VIC Certificate IV in Bereavement Support (12-month online Nationally Recognised Training)

The course had been developed by the Australian Centre for Grief and  Bereavement using their significant industry expertise in providing bereavement counselling and support services. It is designed for those who have a role in providing bereavement and loss support. The skills and knowledge provided by the course may be for a specific bereavement support job role or complement other job roles, such as those of nurses, aged care workers, palliative care staff, emergency services, and funeral industry employees.

With 11 compulsory core units, the Certificate IV in Bereavement Support offers a holistic approach to industry activities. While bereavement care and support work are the main focus of the course, the content also incorporates communication, capacity building, and quality management as required in a real workplace environment.

The Certificate IV Bereavement support consists of the following units:

• VU21612 Apply theoretical principles of grief and loss 
• VU21613 Provide support for grief and loss across the lifespan and among special populations
• VU21614 Apply grief and loss support strategies
• VU 21615 Respond holistically to grief and loss in aged and palliative care settings
• CHCAC318B Work effectively with older people
• SIFXIND003 Deal with grief responses
• CHCCOM505B Develop, implement and promote effective communication
• CHCCS426B Provide support and care relating to loss and grief
• CHCCSL501A Work within a structured counselling framework
• BSBWOR501 Manage personal work priorities and professional development
• CHCORG423C Maintain quality service delivery

Prospective students with significant industry or workplace experience are encouraged to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning ( RPL), thus shortening the length of the course and reducing the course fees.
