The Bond University Graduate Certificate of Nutrition provides students from various health backgrounds with foundational knowledge and skills related to human nutrition and health.
Building on undergraduate skills in health and related sciences, the Certificate explores the chemistry and composition of food as it relates to human nutrition, as well as the assessment and diagnosis of the nutrition status of individuals and populations. The Certificate aims to develop competence in effective nutrition communication and counselling while broadly examining population nutrition issues from a socio-ecological perspective.
This program is a useful pre-medical program for graduates with ambitions to enter post-graduate medical programs, as a pathway into postgraduate specialisation in nutrition and dietetics, or for internationally-educated dietitians requiring professional updates before applying for Australian qualification recognition.
Graduates are eligible to progress into the Graduate Diploma of Nutrition to further develop knowledge and skills relating to human nutrition and health, or directly into the Master of Nutrition and Dietetic Practice to qualify as a dietitian.
Recognition
Graduates of this degree may be eligible for registration as an ‘Associate Nutritionist’ and following three years of relevant work experience can apply for ‘Registered Nutritionist’ status. Please refer to the Nutrition Society of Australia for details.
