The Bond University Graduate Diploma of Nutrition enables students and practitioners from various health backgrounds to develop advanced knowledge and skills relevant to the professional practice of a nutritionist.

Building on undergraduate skills in health and related sciences, the Graduate Diploma explores the chemistry and composition of food, as it relates to human nutrition as well as the assessment and diagnosis of the nutrition status of individuals and populations. The Graduate Diploma aims to develop competence in effective nutrition communication and counselling while broadly examining population nutrition issues from a socio-ecological perspective.

In addition, graduates of this degree will have high level creative, analytical and data synthesis skills to investigate problems and develop solutions in clinical nutrition, nutrition-related chronic disease management, food service management and public health nutrition practice.

This program is a useful pre-medical program for graduates with ambitions to enter post-graduate medical programs, as a pathway into postgraduate specialisation in nutrition and dietetics, or for internationally-educated dietitians requiring professional updates before applying for Australian qualification recognition.

Successful graduates from the Graduate Diploma are well-placed to progress to further studies in the Master of Nutrition and Dietetic Practice to become qualified as a dietitian.  Subjects completed in the Graduate Diploma are credited to the Master program.

Recognition
Graduates of this degree may be eligible for registration as an ‘Associate Nutritionist’ and following three years of relevant work experience can apply for ‘Registered Nutritionist’ status. Please refer to the Nutrition Society of Australia for details.

If you are seeking qualifications to become a dietitian, please refer to the Bond University Master of Nutrition and Dietetic Practice.
