Nurses and Midwives in Australia are required to have Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII) to cover them in the case of legal costs or claims which arise out their practice. In most cases your PII is covered by your employer however nurses working for themselves or nurses no longer employed or registered may need to organize their own cover.
