New mums are being given extra care and support outside their hospital stay through Gold Coast Private Hospital's program that provides two free in-home visits from a midwife.
The Gold Coast's newest maternity ward, which has been fitted with ground-breaking technology and offers a five-star experience, is focussed on providing individualised care for expectant mothers, beginning with the first midwife appointment at 20 weeks gestation.

Gold Coast Private Maternity manager Judy Ross said the service provided increased support and education for women during pregnancy, to birth and beyond.
"The first appointment with the midwives at 20 weeks allows mums to get to know our maternity team and build relationships with the people who will be looking after them during one of the most important times in their life," she said.
"Mums-to-be are encouraged to raise any concerns or anxieties they may have surrounding pregnancy and the birth of their baby so we can address them early and relieve any unnecessary stress.
"In addition to antenatal classes, mothers also have access to hypno-birthing classes, pregnancy yoga and Tai Chi, and are free to visit the ward as many times as they like to familiarise themselves with the layout and surrounds, helping them to feel as comfortable as possible prior to their delivery."
Ms Ross said while in hospital, midwives, postnatal nurses and allied health professionals prepared parents for discharge by providing daily group education sessions over morning and afternoon tea, as well as one-on-one assistance.
"We have gone to great lengths to ensure our mothers feel safe, confident and supported at what is a very vulnerable time in their life," she said.
"Our team is focussed on educating and assisting parents with everything from breastfeeding and bathing, to settling and sleeping, so they can go home feeling confident to care for their babies.
"While clinical excellence and the safety of our mums and bubs is priority, we also focus on ensuring our mums are treated like royalty.
"New parents enjoy a three-course celebratory dinner designed by our executive chef who hails from the kitchens of five-star resorts including the Sofitel Broadbeach.
"There are also little touches like robes, slippers, chocolate-dipped strawberries, an on-demand menu and a stocked fridge for mums and partners staying overnight.
"Our care continues past the hospital discharge with new mums offered the free service of two home visits from a midwife for further support when they return home with their bundle of joy."
Ms Ross said across-the-board, Gold Coast Private Maternity had been designed for women, babies and their families to be cared for in a beautiful environment with five-star treatment and state-of-the-art equipment.
"This is a very special time for mothers and families and we want to ensure they receive the ultimate care," she said.
