COVID-19 booster shots will be widely available at South Australian government hubs from December 1 to people 18 years and over.

South Australians who got their second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine more than six months ago will be able to get their top-up shot at government vaccination hubs from next month.

Premier Steven Marshall said boosters will be widely available at the hubs from December 1 to people 18 years and over, adding to the supply already available at GP surgeries (Pfizer) and pharmacies (Moderna).

"Access to a booster dose of the lifesaving COVID-19 vaccine is yet another layer of protection available to South Australians," he said on Friday.

"We are also encouraging South Australians who are yet to receive the COVID-19 vaccine to do their part and roll up their sleeves to get vaccinated."

The hubs are offering Pfizer booster shots, regardless of which vaccine people received for their first two doses.

But front line health workers, who were among the first to get vaccinated during the coronavirus pandemic, will be prioritised ahead of the wider community.

This group will be able to get their boosters from Friday.

Meanwhile, Mr Marshall played down reports the government's mySA GOV app, which holds the state's COVID SAfe Check-In apparatus, was hacked on Thursday.

"There has been no hacking or compromise of data on the mySA GOV app and there has been no compromise of data that we use for our COVID check-in," he said.

"What we did have was a very swift response from the people in the IT section of the Department of Infrastructure and Transport.

"They locked down the system."

Mr Marshall described the event as a "password breach" suffered by someone who had the same password for a number of online accounts, including the mySA GOV app.

"But we saw that coming in very quickly and within seconds it was shut down," he said.

People who could potentially have been affected were contacted by email and advised to change their passwords.

The premier noted there are thousands of attempted hacks on government data portals each week.

"People need to be vigilant," he added, saying people should not be using the same password for all their accounts.
