Victorians who test positive for COVID-19 will be permitted to vote by telephone in the upcoming state election.

New regulations announced on Tuesday will grant people subject to isolation and other public health restrictions access to electronic-assisted voting via phone for the November 26 election.

Voters impacted by other emergency situations can also access the service.

"These changes will ensure Victorians with COVID-19 who are doing the right thing by complying with public health restrictions and isolating are still able to cast their vote," Government Services Minister Danny Pearson said.

The Electoral Regulations 2022 start on August 20 with the recommendation of the Victorian Electoral Commissioner. They will replace the Electoral Regulations 2012 before they expire on August 21.
