Community and health service are the fastest-growing job sectors in Australia and are projected to have ‘very strong growth’ over the next five years.

“Many regional areas are having difficulty sourcing appropriately qualified staff. The health and social care sector is growing and increasingly employers are seeking qualified staff,” said Dr Erica Russ, Lecturer and Field Education Coordinator, Social Work UNE.

There are numerous agencies that try to address rural workforce issues. Rural Health Workforce Australia supports a Network of seven government-funded Rural Workforce Agencies (RWAs).

Studying and working in health or community services offers people the chance to develop life-long human skills and knowledge and to deal with important social and ethical issues.  At UNE, the online Bachelor of Community Services degree will help you to develop your skills in identifying the problems individuals and communities face; understanding the social, economic and legal contexts of these issues, and provide help and support to achieve optimal outcomes.

How is the Bachelor of Community Services delivered?

The degree is delivered online. The degree is taught by lecturers who have extensive experience in Social Work and Community Services.

It might be a podcast (recorded lecture), a set of readings, questions posed in a discussion board, an online quiz or a video. Your lecturer will guide you through the unit with a weekly plan of study, as well as checking in on the discussion boards or forums. You can communicate with teaching staff via email, online chat or the phone.

What if I do not meet the entry requirements?

If you don’t have entry qualifications, our free Pathways Enabling Course gives you entry and credit to most of UNE’s undergraduate degrees.
