The NSW government has again tightened restrictions in eight COVID-hit local government areas in western and southwestern Sydney.

NEW LOCKDOWN REQUIREMENTS FOR THE EIGHT COVID-AFFECTED WESTERN AND SOUTHWESTERN SYDNEY LGAS
* Masks mandatory indoors and outdoors. The penalty for not wearing a mask where required will be increased from $200 to $500.
* A travel limit of 5km from home for exercise and essential shopping
* Only authorised workers may leave their LGA for work
* There is a limited list of authorised workers on the NSW Health website, including health workers, teachers and electricians

SURVEILLANCE TESTING
* From Saturday, authorised workers from Canterbury-Bankstown must be tested once every three days in order to leave their LGA for work
* From Saturday, health and aged care workers (including support services like cleaners and cooks) who live in Fairfield or Cumberland LGAs but work elsewhere must be tested once every three days

FOR THE REMAINDER OF GREATER SYDNEY INCLUDING CENTRAL COAST, BLUE MOUNTAINS, WOLLONGONG AND SHELLHARBOUR
* Stay at home unless absolutely necessary
* No visitors in homes
* Pubs, restaurants, entertainment venues, gyms, places of worship, beauty salons, caravan parks and camping grounds are closed
* Masks indoors, and outdoors where social distancing cannot be maintained

REASONS TO LEAVE HOME
* To get food or other essential goods and services within 10km of home
* If you can't work or continue education at home
* Exercising outside in groups of two people or fewer
* Providing compassionate care to a relative
* Attending a funeral or memorial service

CONSTRUCTION
* Construction on sites outside the eight LGAs will resume on Saturday
* Construction only on non-occupied sites - places with no residents
* Construction workers from the eight LGAs of concern cannot leave their LGAs

TRADIES AND CLEANERS
* Tradies (including cleaners) can resume their work if they can work with zero contact with residents
* No more than two people inside and five outside
* This work is not allowed in the eight LGAs of concern

SINGLES BUBBLE
* People who live alone can nominate one family member or friend to visit
* In the eight LGAs of concern, the person must live within 5km

SCHOOLS ACROSS GREATER SYDNEY
* Year 12 students will return to school for face-to-face learning from August 16 with strict COVID-safe protocols

REGIONAL NSW
* Restrictions remain unchanged.
