Entry Pre-requisites:

• Diploma of Remedial Massage (HLT50307, HLT52015 or equivalent) or
• Advanced Diploma of Myotherapy (22316VIC or equivalent)

Course Overview:

• Module 1: Safety Aspects (online)
• Module 2:  Aetiology and Theory on Dry Needling (online)
• Module 3: Anatomy of Upper Limb and Lower Limb, Assessment Techniques (online)
• Module 4: Lower Limb Practical (1.5 days)
• Module 5: Upper Limb Practical (1.5 days)
• Module 6: Advanced Practical (1 day)

Course Objectives:

• Define trigger points, motor banding, and neurological presentations of neuromuscular dysfunction
• Review literature supporting efficacy and treatment rationale of TDN
• Instruct application of TDN for orthopedic and neuromuscular conditions
• Review anatomy of regions to be taught in the Dry Needling Essentials course
• Discuss safety
• Discuss indications and contraindications for treatment
